Well as some of my Facebook and Yelp followers may have figured out I was on a breakfast sampling rampage in St. Charles this week! I ended my week long sampling at Amish Ovens part of Amish Market Square. I had not been back for several years as the restaurant had a habit of opening and closing under new management but they must have found the right combination now because the food was fantastic. Under new management since 2010. I tried the Apple Crisp French Toast and it was very good! The food was plentiful but the prices were slightly high probably because of the location next to the Interstate. Greeted with a smile and the service was good. Beverages in mason jars is unique. I had an opportunity to speak with the chef and talked about her new menu. She was very eager to report that the lunch menu features freshly cooked turkey and beef products no frozen here! The restaurant also has fresh baked goods as well as homemade jams. The Amish theme is interesting and outside you can have your photo taken in an authentic Amish buggy! Very nice dining experience. If you have not been to the Ovens in awhile I encourage you to give it a try.

Meat was tough and lettuce didn't taste washed. Fish was more batter than fish. All around disappointed. The wheat bread was good. We did have good service.

Bought "Amish" cookies that were definitely not Amish and were as hard as a brick. They were disgusting. Took 5 minutes to checkout because cashier couldn't figure out the discounts for the couple ahead of us. Will not stop here again.

A great place to visit and catch some of the local Amish wares. Quilts on display are extremely well made, hand stitched. Amish made foods, soaps, candles and Amish books are also available. Restaurant downstairs. Truck stop with repair facility on premises. ATM available.

As far as a legitimate Amish restaurant, I'm doubtful. However I think the food is Amish. The food was very good, home made feel. If I were from the area I'd go try something else. Free refils on drinks. I recomend the unsweeted tea. I ate the Amish chicken pot pie. Huge portion fresh from the bone chicken and home made biscuit and gravy. Upstairs is a thrift store with a bunch of gifts most hand made
